Looking after your baby's wellbeing for now and for the future.
Sheepskin comes from nature and one day will rejoin nature.
With regular care, real sheepskin lasts a lifetime, but when it comes time to finally throw it out, sheepskin breaks down within a year and will give back to the earth all the nutrients kept inside the skin and fur.
Fake sheepskin however can take over 40 years to breakdown in nature and will in fact pollute the ground with micro-plastics and other toxic compounds. Always buy genuine sheepskin !
We are proud to be part of the Eco Packaging Alliance from noissue.
Their Eco-Packaging Alliance is a great way to contribute to global reforestation, and show off our eco-friendly packaging! For every order we make, they’ll plant trees for you in areas of need.
We are aiming to ensure as many of our products are recyclable in one way or another.
Our luxury magnetic snap shut keepsake gift boxes from The Tiny Box Companyare made from partly recycled materials and are fully recyclable once the magnets and the ribbon tab have been removed.
Our eco-tote bags are made from unbleached natural cotton. The strong weave ensures the bag is durable and will last use after use and when it comes time to finally throw it out, the natural cotton will biodegrade in as little as 5 months.
We are also proud to say that many of our products can last a lifetime with the correct care. We believe in making products last as long as possible to help keep waste to a minimum.
We source all of our Baa Baby sheepskin from New Zealand and Europe – these are from free roaming flocks and not intensively farmed. The sheepskin baby liners we use are then eco-tanned which ensures that the process is completely chrome free – important not only for your baby but also for the environment.
Both Fellhof (based in Austria) and Kaiser (based in Germany) also source their sheepskin from Europe. Their suppliers adhere to strict European legislation and their fleeces are sourced from herds that roam freely.
Our Baby safe sheepskin are eco-tanned, always chrome free and any dyes used are vegetable dyes. Medically tanned sheepskin is also a phrase that is frequently used and means that the fleece is not only baby safe but also has some additional qualities. Medically tanned sheepskin is always shorn in length (usually 25mm- 30mm) which is the optimum level for support and even weight distribution. The fleeces are dense and undergo additional quality control whilst the leather is soft and pliable. Our shorn hair lambskins from all our suppliers are medically tanned and all our long hair rugs are eco-tanned. In addition, a number of our suppliers also hold OEKO-TEX 100 certification.
We are very meticulous about which brands we stock here at Baa Baby.
We try to ensure that each brand and product meets our high standards of quality and sustainability.

Known as a sustainable toy company, PlanToys has been adopting an eco-efficient concept in its toy-making processes since 1981. This concept has always motivated PlanToys to take advantage of innovation and introduce methods that help reduce environmental impact throughout their production.
The wooden Plan Toys are made from natural rubber wood trees that no longer produce latex.
Earth Friendly toys helping to replant as many trees as possible.
Mentari, the wood suppliers for these toys only work with reclaimed rubber wood, a by-product of the latex industry. (No trees cut down specifically for their wood) In addition, for every reclaimed tree it uses, Mentari plants a new one, driving ahead the cycle of regeneration. Mentari/Tender Leaf Toys have been awarded the ICTI Ethical Toy Program seal of approval for their ethical and sustainable supply chain.
Wooden toys designed and made to last!
The wood for an increasing number of small foot toys comes from FSC 100%-certified plantations - a guarantee for sustainable forestry and the global preservation of forests.
Sustainability comes not only from the material - the lifespan also plays a role! Small foot toys are not throw-away products; they use robust solid wood and layered bonded wood which can withstand extreme strain and use.
